For me, the finest companions for the visual arts are found in philosophy and poetry. Internal philosophic and poetic experience become the touchstones of the artist’s ethos. It is interesting and I think it says something, of all the words and ideas we encounter, which will strike a chord in an individual conscience. Which, when taken into our consciousness, will stick, will be tucked away and stored in a remembered location to be used as guideposts on the way.
